ABOUT ME

Hi!  I'm Katy Penman, I'm 36 and I live in Alloa, Scotland, with my husband, our 2 year old daughter and our 2 tom cats.  On evenings and weekends you can find me immersed in the handmade world, designing and making products for my stationery and supplies show www.girlindustries.etsy.com and getting ready to launch my handmade accessories for little ones at www.littluns.etsy.com  I'm a former committee member of Glasgow Craft Mafia and a founder of ethical childrenswear line Mimi & Will.

In the day time, I work in healthcare, and lead on a range of national patient and public engagement programmes.  I spend much of my time writing for the public, on a range of conditions, treatments, healthcare strategy and government policy.  My views when attributed to the Girl Industries brand are entirely my own.  As if two jobs wasn't greedy enough, I also provide retail consultancy services on a freelance basis.

You can hire me to proofread your Etsy shop, copy edit your Folksy listings, manage your Asos marketplace or boutique, keep on top of your eBay shop or provide any additional support with your writing or customer service skills that you can think of.  I've worked on an employed basis in food and fashion retail since 1994, on the high street, online, on the checkout, at market stalls and trade events, in store management and leadership, providing direct support to board members, arranging and running craft fairs and of course as shopkeeper, MD and tealady of my own online retail presence since 2006.  Feedback on my shop support service is available in my Etsy shop feedback section and via PPH, as well as on request.

I've also provided patterns, tutorials and product photography to books, magazines, blogs and even radio and television.  Get in touch via katy@girlindustries.com if you'd like me to work with you on your media or publishing project.
