So I curated another Etsy Europe front page.  I would be delighted to own any of these items, but I particular love the handmade notebook, the fake tattoos and the silver book.  Lovely!

I love the constellation leggings, too, but would also need someone to buy me the pins to go with them...

Treasury feature: slick pink

Another treasury, this time featuring the LAST EVER set of oversized grey and pink heart coasters. If you've had your eye on these, snap them up now, as I just sold a set earlier this week and these are the very last ones.

Now here's something I never knew about

The BBC has picked up this blog on its Open Country page. I'm an avid Radio 4 listener and blogged about one of their programmes which discussed the decline of Fair Isle knitting last summer when I was a pregnant insomniac.

Over the border in Fife

I live about three miles away from the border of central Scotland with the Kingdom of Fife, which is home to a new Etsy shop I discovered this week, Ziggy and Friends. Jay, the artist behind the shop, creates the loveliest illustrations, ideal for a nursery or just for fun.

A new treasury

In a timely coincidence, my seascape gloves are featured in this treasury. I've been working on pairs in a new blue/grey colorway over the last few days, so keep your eyes peeled for them in the shop over the weekend.

I'm in a book!

So this is big news!

My black damask envelopes have been featured in this awesome book. Lots of the projects in 1000 ideas for creative reuse (by Garth Johnson) are a familiar sight from Etsy and Craft, but there is plenty in there that is more on the the art side than the craft side, and it's a lovely book to browse through and be inspired by. Garth's blog, Extreme Craft is also well worth a read, I love the fine balance between cutting edge ideas and traditional techniques.

One of my favourite things about the book is that each page is organised by colour theme, making it really easy on the eye. I also like the way that everyone is properly credited, by name, by company and in an easy to read index that identifies each contributor and his/her/their item. After being misquoted, falsely attributed and altogether omitted by certain other publications over the years, it's very refreshing to see that someone is capable of doing it properly.

Christmas parcels at Shop Handmade UK

Oooh, I've been featured in a number of special gift packages curated by Shop Handmade UK. I especially like Rose Pink Gift Box Number 2, which also contains a What Would Delia Do? tea towel made by Miso Funky, and cute little ponytail holders by See The Woods, who keeps me entertained over on Twitter. You also get a keychain notebook from Girl Industries in there, too, you lucky recipient!

The gift boxes represent really good value for money, and are on sale right now, via Folksy.com. They will also be available to ooh and aah over, and to buy, at the Handmade UK market in Oxford on Sunday 29 November.

I need your help

A few months ago I was contacted with a heads up that my coffee kilts were slated to be featured in the November issue of the US version of Country Living magazine, as part of a wider feature on tartan.

I've tried all our bookstores and international newsagents here in Glasgow and I can't find a copy for my scrapbook. So if you are reading this in the US and are a subscriber to the magazine, I would be so hugely grateful for a scanned copy of any mention of my products.

This week's recommended reading

I was having a terrible day yesterday, so I treated myself to a very rare treat indeed, the latest Rowan magazine (issue 46). I was waiting for my friend in the haberdashery department of John Lewis - bad place to loiter, I know - and flicking through when two things caught my eye.

This jumper (and scarf) are named after the city I grew up in:

And they've featured one of my favourite local places to visit:

The whole issue has an industrial theme, lots of lovely patterns, and some great historical articles. Of the three issues I've ever bought (these things are £11.50, you know) I actually only paid full price for this most recent one, eBay is a good place to seek them out.

Getting things done - the round up!

Did you see me over on the McEtsy blog? I'm also featured by Domestic Sluttery as part of her feature on The Oriental Magpie, a new Girl Industries stockist.

So July was a month for getting things done... So how did I do?

I'm up to date with wedding crafts having completed all my button hearts for our pew ends during the ceremony. I've even gone a step further and having picked out our menu for the wedding breakfast, I've printed up some nice menu cards using the same font as our invitations. I'm looking forward to receiving my fantastic handmade favours from The Other Mousie, and spending an afternoon packaging them up with love and neat handwriting with my matron of honour, Suzie.

I finally submitted my Rhonda's Recycled Challenge piece, right down to the wire due to procrastination and a hangover. Shame on me. I think my problem was that I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but then couldn't get around to making it for real, in case it turned out totally differently. I'm happy with the way it turned out, in the end.

I'll be stepping down from my events organising duties over at the Glasgow Craft Mafia as things get more hectic around the wedding. In the meantime, I'll be keeping up to date with the mafia via the awesome forum (worth the membership fees alone, but good for browsing the public sections, too) and the blog.
